In short, wool felt is a fleece (Latin vellus "wool", "sheepskin"), which consists of virgin wool from sheep, which is consolidated by felting. Due to the structure of the wool fiber, which has scale-like barbs, wool felts under the influence of pressure, rolling and moisture. The felt can optionally be dyed or surface-treated.
